Client The Original Pancake House
This project centers on creating a vibrant new breakfast destination. Timeless yet energizing, designed to reflect the family’s next generation as The Original Pancake House expands into Chicago’s West Loop. Transforming an unfinished concrete shell, the design introduces a warm and welcoming atmosphere defined by natural light, rich wood tones, and bright, reflective blue tiles that bring a sunny, uplifting feel to the space. A thoughtful balance of warmth and vibrancy guides the interior. Generous daylighting, paired with bold tile accents and strategic mirror placement, amplifies brightness throughout the dining room, making it feel like a true morning haven. At the heart of the space, the coffee bar acts as a lively central hub. Set within a custom mosaic floor, it greets guests upon entry and seamlessly connects the kitchen to both wings of the dining area. Outdoors, lush planters and cheerful awnings bring the concept to the street, establishing a confident and inviting presence on a prominent corner. The result is a fresh, sunny breakfast spot that honors a beloved brand while embracing the family’s next generation of hospitality.
